BIP Project:
Body and Technology: A Multimedia Show
Institution: Escola d’Art i Disseny, l’Arsenal de Vilafranca del Penedés (Barcelona)
Dates: From February 2 to February 6, 2026
Modality: In-person
Target Audience: Teachers and students from different artistic disciplines
Project Description
This BIP course is aimed at fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among students and faculty from various areas of art and design through the development of a performative installation that integrates body, technology, and space. Through collective work, hybrid languages will be explored that combine digital tools such as video mapping, real-time processing, and interaction through sensors (motion, sound, light, or presence) with physical and performative scenic elements.
Objectives
Create a live artistic intervention: Converge different media—visual, sound, scenic, and choreographic—based on an experimental process rooted in collaborative practice.
Promote international participation: The course will be taught in English and Spanish, facilitating cultural exchange.
Before the in-person meeting, several introductory online seminars will be organized, addressing technical resources such as creative programming environments, mapping tools, sensors, and interactive media control, as well as the conceptual presentation of the project. This will allow participants to acquire a common frame of reference and facilitate practical work during the in-person phase.
Course Objectives
- Foster Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Bring together students and teachers from different artistic areas to work together on a common project.
- Develop Audiovisual Skills: Equip participants with the ability to create audiovisual content for the show.
- Create a Performative Show: Integrate dance and audiovisual elements to produce a performance to be presented at the end of the course.
- Promote Diversity and Inclusion: Ensure that all voices are heard and valued in the creative process.
- Implement Sustainable Practices: Use materials and techniques that respect the environment in the production of the show.
- Encourage Democracy in Artistic Creation: Provide a space where all participants can contribute and make decisions in the project's development.
